What does this do?

Hi! I've never blogged before and am trying to figure this out! I think I'm getting used to it...loving the Hubble images.

I'm taking this class as an elective to my program. One professor told me that recent studies show that even a SmartBoard has been proven to improve attendance in high schools (they don't say anything about it enhancing learning...yet.) I am taking this class because while teaching third and fourth grade, I was also their technology teacher. I spend hours trying to find appropriate websites online and also used whatever computer programs my school already had in the closet. I was never fully satisfied with my computer classes even though my kids were having fun and learning something.

Then, one day, the reading specialist asked me to try a new computerized reading assessment with my struggling readers. It was quick and ALL MY STUDENTS WANTED TO TAKE THE "TEST." The information I obtained from this particular program was extremely useful in planning instruction for my students. As a new reading specialist (almost there!), I want to be able to present to the teachers at my school, programs that:
1) are proven effective and informative for teachers
2) I am familiar with and can provide professional development
3) the kids will enjoy.

These are my hopes and expectations for this class.
